It's actually hard to believe that one of the fastest growing sports in the world today originated from a simple spatial limitation.
When Enrique Corcuera wanted to create a playing area in Acapulco in the late 1960s, there wasn't enough space for a traditional tennis court. So something new was born: a smaller playing field, surrounded by walls, with its own dynamics, its own pace, and its own unique character. What began on private property became the origin of padel.
But padel was more than just a new way to play from the very beginning. That first court already contained much of what defines the sport today: energy, competition, a sense of ease, and a strong feeling of community. A spontaneous idea became a place where people came together, played, laughed, and kept coming back.
Today, padel has evolved far beyond its roots in Acapulco. From a local origin, it has become a global sport – modern, dynamic, and shaped by a constantly growing community. Padel combines performance and lifestyle in a way that few other sports achieve. That's precisely what makes it so appealing.
Curo was born from the desire to honor and reinterpret this origin. We want to build a brand that not only knows the history of the sport but translates it into a modern visual language. That's why the coordinates of Acapulco appear in many of our designs – as a conscious reference to the place where it all began.
For us, padel is not just a game, but a culture. An attitude. A way of life encompassing the court, style, and community. Curo combines the roots of this sport with modern design, clean aesthetics, and contemporary apparel for a new generation of players who don't just play, but truly live the spirit of the sport.
